The Satchel of Questions and the Sanctuary of Light
Since I embarked on my journey at UIN Gus Dur University in 2024, I have felt as if I am living through a continuous chapter of enlightenment that knows no end. Here in Pekalongan, where the very air breathes with the spirit of “Gus Dur,” the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Da’wah remains my daily sanctuary, and the KPI Department is the arena where I refine my soul and intellect day after day. I am not merely studying here to pass through; I am living every moment as if it were a lifetime in itself.
The KPI Department: A Workshop for Consciousness
In the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting (KPI) Department, the “Word” remains my ultimate obsession. Today, I stand at the heart of this great workshop, learning how to transform media into a message for life. Since 2024, my passion has never ceased to grow; every new academic day is an opportunity to discover another dimension of influence and the ethical responsibility toward the word. I do not wait for graduation to become influential; I am creating my impact now—in every discussion and every classroom—transforming abstract concepts into living awareness.
The Sanctuary of Wonder: Guardians of Knowledge
I stand in awe of a striking reality: our lecturers in the KPI Department. These are individuals who possess not only academic titles but hearts vast enough to embrace my intellectual clamor. Since I first set foot within this university, I have carried a satchel weighted down not just with books, but with “restless” questions that never subside.
In these professors, I found a welcoming refuge for my untamed curiosity. They did not exercise the authority of a teacher over me, but rather the grace of a “guide.” Time and again, I stood before them with endless questions—queries some might find bothersome—yet they embraced them with a patient smile that sincerely brings tears to the eyes, as if they perceived in my insatiable hunger a reflection of their own erstwhile passion. They are the “Guardians of Knowledge” who never grew weary of my deluge of inquiries; rather, they countered my turmoil with their sublime serenity, as if their very essence nobly proclaimed: “Seek more of us… and we shall grant you more revelation.” They made me feel that my question—no matter how humble—is a cornerstone in the edifice of truth.
Companions of the Path: The Soul’s Family
Amidst the hustle of this journey, my peers in the KPI Department shine like stars illuminating my academic nights. They are the “family of the soul” and partners in the dream. They have witnessed every moment of my wonder and remain the sole witnesses to my intellectual hunger, sharing with me the resonance of questions and the stillness of reflection.
We are a blend of different backgrounds and perspectives, learning more from our differences than our similarities. Between us lies a language understood only by those who have absorbed the spirit of media; we laugh sincerely, research deeply, and share dreams that transcend geographical borders. They are not just my classmates; they are the mirrors in which I see my ambition, and the bond that turns the rugged path of knowledge into a garden of fellowship.
Conclusion
My presence at UIN Gus Dur, specifically within the KPI Department, is a re-authoring of my self. Here—where the question is sacred, knowledge is a mission, lecturers are role models, and companions are family—I realized that I did not come to learn how to speak; I came to learn how to breathe “life” into my words.
